#125 A Question to Consider                                                                               March 6, 2016

             Deuteronomy 4:32  For ask now of the days that are past, which were before thee, since the day that God
               created man upon the earth, and ask from the one side of heaven unto the other, whether there hath been
any
               such thing
as this great thing is, or hath been heard like it?
               33  Did ever people hear the voice of God speaking out of the midst of the fire, as thou hast heard, and live?
               34  Or hath God assayed to go and take him a nation from the midst of another nation, by temptations, by
               signs, and by wonders, and by war, and by a mighty hand, and by a stretched out arm, and by great terrors,
               according to all that the LORD your God did for you in Egypt before your eyes?
               35  Unto thee it was shewed, that thou mightest know that the LORD he is God; there is none else beside him.

Here in the book of Deuteronomy God has His holy man Moses speak to the children of Israel in regard to the progress He had made in His relationship among humankind with those of the nation of Israel.  Following the willful disobedience of the first Adam many centuries before, God had made significant progress in His plan of redemption and salvation for humankind up to this point in history.  He wanted those among the nation of Israel to realize that and to know “that the LORD he is God; there is none else beside him.”

Out of the nation of Israel would come God’s only begotten Son, the Lord Jesus Christ.  But what Deuteronomy records here occurred during the Law Administration, hundreds of years before the Lord Jesus Christ was born and completely accomplished God’s plan of redemption and salvation.

It was to His holy man Paul that God revealed the Mystery of His Will in all that the Lord Jesus Christ had accomplished.  God revealed what was now available in the Grace Administration to His children by the new birth, which the Apostle Paul wrote down in the seven Church Epistles.

               Ephesians 2:11  Wherefore remember, that ye being in time past Gentiles in the flesh, who are called
               Uncircumcision by that which is called the Circumcision in the flesh made by hands;
               12  That at that time ye were without Christ, being aliens from the commonwealth of Israel, and strangers
               from the covenants of promise, having no hope, and without God in the world:
               13  But now in Christ Jesus ye who sometimes were far off are made nigh by the blood of Christ.
               14  For he is our peace, who hath made both one, and hath broken down the middle wall of partition
between
               us;
               15 Having abolished in his flesh the enmity, even the law of commandments contained in ordinances; for to make in himself of
               twain one new man, so making peace;
               16  And that he might reconcile both unto God in one body by the cross, having slain the enmity thereby:
               17  And came and preached peace to you which were afar off, and to them that were nigh.
               18  For through him we both have access by one Spirit unto the Father.
               19 Now therefore ye are no more strangers and foreigners, but fellowcitizens with the saints, and of the
               household of God;
               20  And are built upon the foundation of the apostles and prophets, Jesus Christ himself being the chief corner stone;
               21  In whom all the building fitly framed together groweth unto an holy temple in the Lord:
               22  In whom ye also are builded together for an habitation of God through the Spirit.

Ephesians 2:11-22 brings to mind the question God had posed to the children of Israel hundreds of years before in the Law Administration:

“For ask now of the days that are past, which were before thee, since the day that God created man upon the earth, and ask from the one side of heaven unto the other, whether there hath been any such thing as this great thing is, or hath been heard like it?”

The answer, of course, is NO because Ephesians 2:11-22 concerns the Mystery of God’s Will in all that the Lord Jesus Christ accomplished.  God hid It in Himself.  It never crossed the mind of any human what God had secretly intended to make available in the redemption and salvation His Son accomplished.  It was not just for those of Israel but for the Gentiles too - every other nation on the face of the earth.  God Almighty authored His plan of redemption and salvation for all of humankind and His Son, the Lord Jesus Christ, accomplished it and it’s available NOW.
