#83 Vote for Yourself!                                                                      November 2, 2010

Speaking of elections, I heard someone say quite a few years ago that, "God’s voting for you, the devil’s voting against you, you determine the election." That’s still a novel concept even today, isn’t it? Not in regards to politics, of course. Politicians always make the claim that a vote for them is a vote for yourself. But it is strikingly unique when it comes to God and the things of God.

You’ll have to throw out the old religious concepts like, "it’s in God’s hands; He’s testing your faith; there’s a reason why He__________" (insert: made you sick or broke or took your grandma to heaven to be with Him, whatever might apply). But it’s true, though. When it comes to having a relationship with God as your Heavenly Father or thriving in that relationship, you cast the deciding vote. You get to choose for you and you alone.

John 3:16:
For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life.
Notice the whosoever. That’s an individual. It’s not a party, not a district, not a collective voting block. It’s an individual choice, a vote, if you will.

Romans 10:9:
That if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and shalt believe in thine heart that God hath raised him from the dead, thou shalt be saved.
Notice the thou. That’s an individual. It’s not a group, not a crowd, not a national movement. It’s an individual choice, a vote, if you will. You don’t have to join anything, sign anything or pay any dues. You vote for yourself to receive salvation by simply agreeing that Jesus is the lord, your lord, and believing that God did raise him from the dead. Then you are saved, delivered, made whole. You are born again by receiving God’s gift of holy spirit. You have an indissoluble relationship with the Creator of the heaven and the earth. He’s now your Heavenly Father.

Once you have that relationship with God as His son or daughter, you have to keep voting for yourself by believing His Word and acting on It. You believe and you do what God says. Even though you are now His child, each day is a new day and you have to keep casting your vote for His Will in your life. Doesn’t matter how those around you vote and don’t pay any attention to those vicious, 24/7, negative attack ads against His Will for you. God is for you, so you be for Him in your life.

Romans 12:1-2
I beseech you therefore, brethren, by the mercies of God, that ye present your bodies [lives] a living sacrifice, holy, acceptable unto God, which is your reasonable service.
And be not conformed to this world: but be ye transformed by the renewing of your mind, that ye may prove what is that good, and acceptable, and perfect, will of God.
There it is. That’s your daily and moment by moment ballot of life. God beseeches, He begs for you to vote for His Will in your life, but you determine the election. Why not vote for yourself by believing and obeying Him?
Why not vote for yourself to have His wonderful will as a living reality in your life moment by moment and day by day by simply believing and believingly acting on His Word?
Vote for yourself!
