#86 Get the Point!!!                                                                                 March 3, 2011

God had a wonderful, wonderful man that He could work together with during the first twenty years of the reign of King Solomon.  During that period of the first half of his reign, he was one of the “holy men of God” spoken of in   II Peter 1:21.
II Peter 1:21:
For the prophecy came not in old time by the will of man: but holy men of God spake as they were moved by the Holy Ghost.

During the first twenty years of King Solomon’s reign, when he cooperated with God, he gained quite the world-wide reputation.
I Kings 4:29-31:
And God gave Solomon wisdom and understanding exceeding much, and largeness of heart, even as the sand that is on the sea shore.
And Solomon's wisdom excelled the wisdom of all the children of the east country, and all the wisdom of Egypt.
For he was wiser than all men; than Ethan the Ezrahite, and Heman, and Chalcol, and Darda, the sons of Mahol: and his fame was in all nations round about.

During that time Solomon received the great Revelation that we have in our Bibles as Ecclesiastes.
Ecclesiastes 1:1-2:
The words of the Preacher, the son of David, king in Jerusalem.
Vanity of vanities, saith the Preacher, vanity of vanities; all is vanity.

What God says at the beginning of Ecclesiastes, He says again almost at the end.
Ecclesiastes 12:8:
Vanity of vanities, saith the preacher; all is vanity.

The Hebrew word translated “vanity” may also be translated as “pointless“.  God’s declaration in the book of Ecclesiastes is that apart from Him, life is pointless.  In Ecclesiastes 12:13 God reveals the one and only point in the otherwise pointlessness of life.
Ecclesiastes 12:13:
Let us hear the conclusion of the whole matter: Fear God, and keep his commandments: for this is the whole duty of man.

Among the things that God proves are meaningless or pointless apart from Him, in His Word in Ecclesiastes are: great accomplishments, the pleasures of life, wealth, etc.  If the reader doesn’t understand the one great Truth that God painstakingly reveals in the Revelation He gives in Ecclesiastes (and many theologians have not, as well as sincere God-loving men and women), then the profit of His wonderful Word is lost.

Living life apart from God, be it as the lowliest beggar or the most affluent banker, is utterly pointless.  Vanity!  BUT life with God as your Heavenly Father is what brings the richness, the fullness, the satisfaction to living day by day no matter the circumstance or situation.

Centuries after God gave His Word in Ecclesiastes, He had His only begotten Son explain what we  have recorded   in Matthew 6:33.
Matthew 6:33:
But seek ye first the kingdom of God, and his righteousness; and all these things shall be added unto you.

Many years after that, He had His holy man Paul explain what we have in Acts 17:24-27.
Acts 17:24-27:
God that made the world and all things therein, seeing that he is Lord of heaven and earth, dwelleth not in temples made with hands;
Neither is worshipped with men's hands, as though he needed any thing, seeing he giveth to all life, and breath, and all things;
And hath made of one blood all nations of men for to dwell on all the face of the earth, and hath determined the times before appointed, and the bounds of their habitation;
That they should seek the Lord, if haply they might feel after him, and find him, though he be not far from every one of us: [emphasis added].

God Almighty so desired for mankind to have a rich, full, soul-satisfying life with Him that He gave the life of His only begotten Son so that anyone could receive it.  Anyone who is willing to receive what God gave in what His Son accomplished has life with and from God.
1 John 5:12:
He that hath the Son hath life; and he that hath not the Son of God hath not life.

Ever heard someone say, “Get to the point”?  The one and the only point of life is God.  Ever heard someone say, “What’s the point?”  Again, the one and the only point of life itself is God by way of His wonderful Son, the Lord Jesus Christ.

Get the point?
